Double Springs

Double Springs Campground offers a unique step back in time. Originally constructed in the 1930s, this historic site maintains an old-fashioned atmosphere that invites visitors to slow down and enjoy the natural beauty of the Southwest. The campground is situated in a picturesque draw, surrounded by a lush landscape of cool grass, towering ponderosa pines, and Gambel oak trees that provide a serene backdrop for your stay.

The facility features 15 single-unit sites available by reservation only. While there are no utility hookups available, the site is well-suited for both tent campers and RV enthusiasts looking for a rustic, back-to-basics experience. It serves as an excellent base camp for those who enjoy active exploration, particularly with the Lake View Trail originating directly from the grounds. This two-mile trail offers beautiful overlooks of Mormon Lake and the surrounding forests.

Because this is a primitive, year-round federal campground managed by the USFS, it is best suited for campers who are self-sufficient and appreciate a quiet, nostalgic outdoor setting. Whether you are looking for a peaceful mountain getaway or a convenient stopover for hiking and nature observation, Double Springs provides a classic forest camping experience.
