Lost Park

Nestled deep within the rugged Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 9,990 feet, Lost Park offers a true wilderness experience for those looking to escape the crowds. This USFS-managed campground provides a serene, high-altitude setting defined by expansive mountain vistas and the crisp, clean air of the Colorado backcountry. Because it is a primitive, free campground, it serves as an ideal basecamp for hikers and adventurers who prefer a rustic, off-grid atmosphere.

Facilities at Lost Park are minimal, keeping the focus on the natural surroundings. Each site is equipped with a fire ring, perfect for evening gatherings under the clear mountain skies. The area is intersected by hiking trails that provide immediate access to the surrounding forest. Please note that there are no hookups available, and the site is best suited for small RVs or campers up to 22 feet in length, as well as tent campers prepared for primitive conditions.

This campground operates on a strictly first-come, first-served basis. Visitors must arrive in person to claim a site, with payment often handled via the Recreation.gov mobile app Scan and Pay feature. Given the remote location, it is recommended to download the app and prepare for limited connectivity before heading up the mountain.
