North Desor Campground

North Desor Campground offers a true wilderness experience for those looking to explore the rugged beauty of the Great Lakes region. Situated on the north side of Lake Desor, this federal site is accessible exclusively by foot via the Minong Ridge Trail. Because there is no boat, canoe, or kayak access, the area remains a quiet, pristine retreat for hikers and backpackers seeking solitude in the heart of the backcountry.

The terrain surrounding the campground is defined by the natural landscape of the Minong Ridge, providing a challenging yet rewarding environment for outdoor enthusiasts. As a primitive, non-hookup facility, the campground is best suited for experienced tent campers and hikers who are comfortable with self-sufficient, backcountry travel. The site features ADA accessibility to ensure that the trail experience remains inclusive for all adventurers.

Operated by the USFS, this campground is open year-round, allowing for seasonal exploration of the area. Please note that stays are limited to two nights between June 1 and Labor Day to preserve the integrity of the site. With no modern amenities like water or electricity, guests should come prepared to pack in all necessary supplies.
