Goat Island Primitive Camping

Goat Island offers a unique, rugged escape for those looking to immerse themselves in nature. As a federal campground managed by the USFS, this site provides a true primitive experience, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts seeking solitude and a break from developed parks. The site is strictly for tent camping, as there are no RV hookups or developed facilities available. While the island features two designated camping areas, visitors are welcome to practice primitive camping across the island for most of the year. Please note that during hunting season, from Labor Day through January, camping is restricted solely to the two designated zones. Accessibility features are provided to ensure the area remains inclusive for all visitors.

This location is best suited for experienced tent campers and backcountry adventurers who are self-sufficient. Because this is an undeveloped area, all visitors must obtain a backcountry use permit from the Park’s HQ Office prior to their arrival.
