Chosa Campground

Chosa Campground is a unique, fee-free BLM site that offers a convenient basecamp for travelers exploring the rugged beauty of the Southwest. Situated on a 3.5-acre fenced pad, this primitive location provides a safe, accessible area for both tent campers and those traveling by RV. Its primary appeal lies in its strategic location, sitting just 11 miles south of the world-famous Carlsbad Caverns and 27 miles north of Guadalupe Mountains National Park along Highway 62.

The terrain is characteristic of the high desert, offering an open, arid landscape at an elevation of 3,738 feet. Because the site is managed as a primitive camping area, visitors should arrive prepared for self-sufficient travel. While the site is ADA accessible and includes a trash container for convenience, there are no hookups available on-site.
