Prior Flat Campground

Nestled at the base of the remote Shirley Mountains, Prior Flat Campground offers a true escape into the Wyoming wilderness. This primitive BLM campground features 15 distinct campsites spread across nine acres. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring or grill to accommodate outdoor cooking. Basic facilities include vault toilets and parking spurs, including one pull-through site, though no utility hookups are provided. The campground is best suited for self-sufficient tent campers and car campers who appreciate a back-to-basics experience.

The site is generally accessible from June 1st through November 15th, though visitors should be prepared for changing conditions, as roads can become impassable during heavy rain or snowmelt. Because this is an undeveloped area without modern amenities, travelers should come fully prepared for primitive conditions. It is a peaceful, no-frills location perfect for those seeking solitude in one of Wyoming's lesser-known mountain ranges.
