KCL Campground

Nestled in a unique landscape, KCL Campground offers a rugged, authentic outdoor experience for those looking to escape the crowds. What makes this site truly special is its history as part of the former Kern County Land Company, where visitors can still see the original barn structures standing on the property today. Unlike many desert locations, this campground provides the rare luxury of shade trees, making it a comfortable oasis for year-round exploration at an elevation of 2,284 feet.

The campground is strictly primitive, operating on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required. Facilities include twelve campsites, two of which are elevated and ADA compliant, along with fire rings and picnic tables. You will also find horse corrals and ADA-compliant vault toilets on-site. Please note that there is no electricity, drinking water, or trash service, so campers must come fully prepared and practice leave-no-trace principles by packing out all refuse.

This site is ideal for self-sufficient tent campers and RV enthusiasts who prefer a quiet, remote setting over developed parks. Because of the primitive nature of the area, it is best suited for experienced campers who value peace, history, and the simple beauty of the California wilderness.
