Sunset Campground

Sunset Campground offers a unique, wide-open desert experience managed by the USFS. Set against a vast landscape of desert gravels with little to no vegetation, this expansive site is a perfect escape for those seeking solitude and an authentic, rugged camping atmosphere. It is an ideal spot for campers who enjoy a minimalist, off-the-grid experience under clear, expansive skies.

The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is known for being spacious enough that it rarely fills to capacity. While the site is open year-round, it is particularly popular from late fall through mid-April. Please note that the terrain is primarily desert gravel, and sites are basic, offering a rustic environment for both tent and RV enthusiasts.

Facilities at Sunset are intentionally simple. While some sites are ADA accessible, individual picnic tables and fire grates are not provided at every location. Campfires are strictly prohibited throughout the campground, except for those within designated community fire grates. Whether you are passing through in an RV or setting up a tent for a desert getaway, this site provides a straightforward, accessible base for your outdoor adventures.
