Grace Island Campground

Grace Island Campground offers a truly unique wilderness experience located on the southwestern end of Isle Royale National Park. Situated on Grace Island just outside of Washington Harbor, this federal campground provides a secluded retreat for those looking to immerse themselves in the rugged beauty of the Great Lakes region. Because the site is only accessible by private boat, canoe, or kayak, it remains a quiet sanctuary far removed from the bustle of mainland life.

The campground features two shelters and provides a designated docking area for visitors arriving by boat, with depths typically ranging from two to four feet. While the site is ADA accessible, it is best suited for experienced tent and car campers who are comfortable with self-reliant, backcountry-style travel. Please note that there are no utility hookups available, ensuring that the natural character of the island remains preserved for all visitors.

Whether you are paddling through the surrounding waters or exploring the island's terrain, Grace Island is an ideal destination for adventurers seeking a remote getaway. The campground is open year-round, though visitors should plan accordingly for seasonal weather conditions. Please be aware that a three-night stay limit is strictly enforced between June 1 and Labor Day.
