Paw Paw Tunnel Campsite

Nestled along the scenic C&O Canal Towpath at Mile 156, the Paw Paw Tunnel Campsite offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in history while enjoying the natural beauty of the Potomac River. Facilities at this site are designed for a back-to-basics experience, featuring 10 individual campsites equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills. Portable toilets are available on-site to accommodate visitors, and a hand pump provides water access from April 15 through November 1. Please note that this is a dry camping location with no utility hookups available, and the consumption of alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited throughout the grounds.

This site is best suited for tent campers and self-contained RV travelers who appreciate a more rugged, nature-focused atmosphere. With a capacity of eight people per site, it is an excellent choice for families or small groups looking to explore the canal path.
